    Pam Bookalicio.us BloggerHey, teens!

    Back by popular demand!

Pam van Hylckama Vlieg, our Bookalicio.us Blogger, is heading up a book club! If you like to read and can't wait to tell other people about what you've just read, this is your chance! You'll discover books you didn't know were out there, or maybe pick up that book you've heard great things about and haven't gotten to.

You'll meet every two weeks (first and third Saturdays) and sometimes have access to Advanced Readers Copies (ARCs) - sample copies of books the publisher provides bookstore staff. You'll also get a 20% discount off of book club titles, and have exclusive chances to meet authors.
Come to this first meeting and help set the course for future meetings.

The book for this first meeting is Jellicoe Road.

    Ages 13 & up

Inspired by the classic folk ballad Scarborough Fair this is a wonderfully riveting novel of suspense, romance, and fantasy. Lucy is seventeen when she discovers that she is the latest recipient of a generations-old family curse that requires her to complete three seemingly impossible tasks or risk falling into madness and passing the curse on to the next generation. Unlike her ancestors, though, Lucy has family, friends, and other modern resources to help her out. But will it be enough to conquer this age-old evil?

When Thomas wakes up in the lift, the only thing he can remember is his first name. His memory is blank. But he’s not alone. When the lift’s doors open, Thomas finds himself surrounded by kids who welcome him to the Glade—a large, open expanse surrounded by stone walls.

Just like Thomas, the Gladers don’t know why or how they got to the Glade. All they know is that every morning the stone doors to the maze that surrounds them have opened. Every night they’ve closed tight. And every 30 days a new boy has been delivered in the lift.

Thomas was expected. But the next day, a girl is sent up—the first girl to ever arrive in the Glade. And more surprising yet is the message she delivers.

Thomas might be more important than he could ever guess. If only he could unlock the dark secrets buried within his mind.

In this lyrical, absorbing, award-winning novel, nothing is as it seems, and every clue leads to more questions.

At age eleven, Taylor Markham was abandoned by her mother. At fourteen, she ran away from boarding school, only to be tracked down and brought back by a mysterious stranger. Now seventeen, Taylor's the reluctant leader of her school's underground community, whose annual territory war with the Townies and visiting Cadets has just begun. This year, though, the Cadets are led by Jonah Griggs, and Taylor can't avoid his intense gaze for long. To make matters worse, Hannah, the one adult Taylor trusts, has disappeared. But if Taylor can piece together the clues Hannah left behind, the truth she uncovers might not just settle her past, but also change her future.
