You won't want to miss this! Hicklebee's Teen Advisory Board (TAB) will be hosting acclaimed author Julie C. Dao in conversation with Stacey Lee. Dao will be bringing her hotly anticipated follow-up to her book Forest of a Thousand Lanterns, to Hicklebees!
Kingdom of the Blazing Phoenix is a gorgeous retelling of Snow White set in a lush East-Asian inspired fantasy world. Filled with dazzling magic, powerful prose, and characters readers won't soon forget, Dao drew on both her Vietnamese-American background as well as her love of strong female protagonists to craft the novel. Author Stacey Lee and Dao will discuess the novel then follow up with a book signing.
Julie C. Dao is a proud Vietnamese-American who was born in upstate New York, and then was raised amidst the autumn fields and sloping mountains of New England. She went to college to become a doctor, but (go figure) came out ready to pursue her passion of creative writing. She is greatly influenced by the work of Jane Austen, J.K. Rowling, Maggie Stiefvater, Jhumpa Lahiri, Neil Gaiman, and Laini Taylor. Julie lives in New England.
Stacey Lee is an award-winning author of historical and contemporary young adult fiction. A native of southern California, she graduated from UCLA then got her law degree at UC Davis King Hall. She loves cold brewed coffee, naps, and dancing, but not all at once. She plays classical piano, has perfect pitch, and through some mutant gene, can smell musical notes through her nose. AMAZING!
