Peter Sis
Peter Sís is an internationally acclaimed illustrator, author, and filmmaker with more than twenty books to his credit. His vast body of work, including the celebrated titles Starry Messenger: Galileo Galilei, Tibet Through the Red Box, and The Wall: Growing Up Behind the Iron Curtain, have earned him a MacArthur Fellowship, Hans Christian Anderson Award, Sibert Award, and three Caldecott Honors.
For his most recent picture book, Ice Cream Summer, Peter sampled countless flavors. His favorite (at the moment) is mango. When he isn’t traveling the globe eating ice cream, gelato, and sorbet, he creates picture books and fine art that can be seen in galleries, museums, and public spaces from New York to Los Angeles, London to Prague, and lots of cities in between. Born in Brno, Czechoslovakia, Peter Sís now lives in New York with his family.
